Vaccination Requirements, Diet, Things to Bring

VACCINE REQUIREMENTS
You will need to bring an up to date copy of vaccine records from your vet.
Chalquest Kennels require the following vaccines:
1. Rabies
2. DHPP or DHLPP
3. Bordetella Vaccine (Kennel Cough)
Please Note: Although the Bordetella Vaccine is routinely given as a 12 month vaccine; We strongly recommend your dog has received a bordetella booster within 6 months of start of boarding, as in our experience we find it is not 100% effective in some dogs for the 12 month period.  However, you are welcome to follow your own vets advice.

DIET
We carry Iams Adult Mini Chunks as the food we provide our dog guests.
Or, you are welcome to bring the diet that your dog is currently eating at home. Maintaining your dog on the food it is familiar can be beneficial especially in dogs with a sensitive digestive system.
PLEASE NOTE: If you do provide your own dogs food, please bring as close to the amount he will need for his stay plus an additional emergency day or two supply. We have limited storage capacity so your help is appreciated!

OTHER ITEMS TO BRING
You are welcome to bring a bed or mat for your dog to use during his stay. We recommend a mat that is easily laundered, and less the 30" in length.  Chalquest Kennels also will provide faux sheepskin bedding for your pet.

If your dog has a favorite hard bone, kong, or nylabone type toy, those often do well in the kennel environment. Stuffed animal type toys tend often do not fare quite as well.

We provide the dog bowls and water dishes and it is easiest for the kennel to use our supply of those.

MEDICATIONS:
There is no charge for giving your pet its medication.
However:
1. Please bring the meds clearly marked as to type of medication and frequency the pet receives them. By keeping the meds seperate and clearly labeled as to type of medication, we are in better position to relay info to a vet if your pup should end up needing medical attention during his stay.
2. Please Do NOT put medication in with pre-made meal bags. If your pet typically takes med in food bowl, we will put it in as we feed the dog that specific meal. The meds often disintegrate when put in the food baggies ahead of time. Also, dogs sometimes need to change to a bland diet during their stay, so easiest for us to not need to fish thru pre-made bags to get out meds.
